About the escape room
Geppetto used to be a familiar face in Katwijk aan Zee — a kind clockmaker, a master of wooden marionettes, a man who put his whole soul into his work. Then the mysterious fairy brought his greatest creation — the wooden boy Pinocchio — to life, and it seemed like a fairy tale complete. But one day Pinocchio didn't return from school. Shortly after, Geppetto himself disappeared, leaving no trace. Since then his workshop has been abandoned… or so it seems. Neighbours report strange sounds behind the closed doors: ticking that speeds up, child voices, music. One boy claims he saw a puppet moving through the keyhole. Nobody knows exactly what happened, but one thing is certain: time does not stand still in Geppetto’s workshop. Now it is up to you, his last family members, to uncover the mystery. What happened to Geppetto and Pinocchio? What is hidden among the clocks, puppets and wooden secrets? The answers lie inside… if you dare to search.

AI Overview

AIVisitors praise the handcrafted set, the creative use of space, and the emotional, quirky spin on Pinocchio. The room is puzzle-intensive yet varied and logical, with an easy flow that makes you smile. The soundtrack adds a cinematic layer and lifts immersion. A few notes: prior knowledge of Pinocchio helps, there are tiny rough edges and a few moments are less handy for shorter players, but overall it’s highly recommended and seen as a clear step forward compared to Inferno.
WeaknessesSubject and tone won’t suit everyone, and the story lands better if you know Pinocchio a bit. A few small unfinished bits and height-sensitive moments. Occasionally slightly rough elements, but nothing game-breaking.
StrengthsBeautifully built with great attention to detail and smart use of a compact space. Strong, thematic puzzles and surprising twists. The music sets a warm, almost cinematic atmosphere.
SecurityNo safety issues mentioned in the reviews; briefing and guidance feel well handled. Compact setting, but tidy and controlled.
Level of fearNot scary, more fairytale-like with a touch of tension here and there. Suitable for families and players who don’t want horror.
Actors' gameNo live actors mentioned; interaction runs via set, sound, and story. Hosts come across as welcoming and sometimes share a peek behind the scenes afterwards.
Quality of riddlesPuzzle-heavy but fair, with good variety and clear thematic logic. The flow stays smooth and the mechanisms use the space smartly. Shorter players may need a bit of help at a few moments.
PlotAn original retelling of Pinocchio in which you unravel the disappearance of Geppetto and the boy among clocks and marionettes. The story carries the room, and basic knowledge of the fairy tale makes details richer.
Difficulty levelMedium to tough due to puzzle density; an experienced duo barely made it within the time. Accessible for newcomers with hints, and a fun challenge for enthusiasts.
